Welly Boots for Wellesley
This painting is a second from a visit to The Merrion Hotel in Dublin. One of the original houses was the birth place of Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington, who defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo. I couldn’t resist!
The Park Kenmare
I was delighted to get the chance to meet John Brennan of The Park Hotel in Kenmare on a recent trip to the hotel to take reference photos. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate but I got lots of images and am pretty confident that I’ll get several paintings from the visit.
Here I am trying to get back from a composition but unfortunately there was a wall in the way!
I use my phone as a viewfinder to find compositions, then we take the shots with a better camera.
John Brennan from The Park helping me to move furniture around. You might have seen John and his brother Francis Brennan on the ‘At Your Service’ programme on RTE were they visit small hotels and help revamp their business.
John and his staff were incredibly helpful and I really looking forward seeing them all again in July for the show.
