Carraig Lodge 60x60cm oil on canvas €1450
A new painting destined for the RDS fair. The wall colour and lighting was inspired by the walls of the portrait gallery in London that I visited a few months back. I took some photos and the rich colour has been playing on my mind from time to time ever since. Do you remember my love affair with Geranium Lake? well be prepared to see this colour pop up again.
Bird with boy
I was lucky enough to get tickets for this show during the Dublin Theatre Festival.[singlepic id=1798 w=500 h=475 float=]
Bird with boy is an immersive dance installation about things that end before they should. Created by multi-award winning junk ensemble and Jo Timmins, the work is performed in an old house unravelling with fractured stories. Littered with moving images and live music, this piece is made up of boys, birds and snow.
Winner of Best Production at ABSOLUT Fringe 2011, Bird with boy is performed by three dancers, two musicians and six boys from Company B, Ireland’s only contemporary dance group for younger boys.
JUNK ENSEMBLE IS PART OF PROJECT CATALYST, AN INITIATIVE OF PROJECT ARTS CENTRE.“Beautiful, delicate, superb; you’d be lucky to see it” The Sunday Times
It was the most powerful, dreamlike, moving performance of my entire life. Visceral, beautiful, magical. My mind didn’t wander outside of it from the first moment to the last. We moved through the old house, mostly by candlelight, from once space/room to another. The performance happen around us and sometime right up against us. Finally (almost without any applause or “ending”) out onto the pavement and the door closed behind us. I stood trying to breath and had no words.
This video was taken during a performance of the show in Kilmanham last year but the show that I went to was in a beautiful old georgian house. It had a more dreamlike quality like alice in wonderland meets strumpet city.
