Another of the little paintings for the The Doorway Gallery’s christmas show.
It seems ages since I’ve blogged but it’s more that I’ve been out of my usual routine of painting than blogging I think. We were away, then Halloween and then the fair so It’s been over a week since I’ve painted and today I’m raring to get back at it.
25x35cm framed oil on canvas
The best work christmas party I’ll get to!
The RDS Art Fair was fantastic. It was a quiet year they tell me, with sales down all over (which isn’t surprising I guess) but we were busy and sold 9 paintings by the end of it.
Doing the Fair myself (as oposed to letting one of my galleries run the stand) was something of an experiment for me. The downside is the amount of time and energy involved but on the up side, I found it fascinating to watch what people were drawn to and what left them unmoved. I’m a people person, so the opportunity to meet browsers and buyers and to have the bit of craic was great.
It was really good to spend time with other artists and gallerists too. Painting can be lonely so I feel a bit like I’ve been at my work christmas party (actually I hate them, one of the good things about being self employed is not having the christmas party) but I guess I mean all the good bits of a work christmas party. The craic, the chat, the bit of fun, oh and the gossip![singlepic id=1421 w=500 h=400 float=]
By the way, If you bought at the show please send me a photo of your painting hanging in your home. I get such a kick out of seeing them in their new homes!
