happy chair

I’ve started a new series, within the interiors series, and based on this painting. I love the cushion on the chair, it reminds me of a toadstool and there’s something about the vertical and diagonal lines that appeal to my eye.

Well, the show launches on Thursday and we’re as ready as we’re ever going to be. I have the Guna (Irish for dress!) and a pair of impossibly high shoes that I think were a ridiculous idea and which I will most likely have to ditch.

Two paintings have already sold in advance of the opening which is really encouraging. So all in all I’m about excited as a dog with a new friend.

Love and loss

Life is never straight forward and along with the excitement of the preamble to the show this week, there has been terrible loss. We had the very sad news that a friend passed away in a tragic accident early last week. She was just 45, a senior official in HSBC bank and a much loved member of the large Brennan clan. She was that rare person who got the balance right between having a serious career, living her life to the full and spending her time and resources generously on her family and friends. She is remembered for her sense of fun and for her endless ability to care for others.

The wake/funeral is spread over almost two and a half days, finishing tonight, but then Ruth did love a party!

    • Thank you May,

Feeling a little like I’ve been rolled over by something big but I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday. Sorry you can’t be there. A little too much water between us. Ró

  • Hi Róisín,

Love the painting, and congratulations on your show. So sorry about your friend. What an emotional time. You will no doubt sell out everything. I’m glad you’ve got your dress and impossible heels. I wear those until I can’t anymore and bring flats for the absolute breaking point. Best of luck with all of it.

Over here in Toronto, Canada we’ll be thinking of you and wishing you a super time.

    XO Barbara

    • Hi Barbara, Awful to see what happened to Carol and all those folks in Texas. I hope they get it under control soon.

I think I’ve given up on the shoes. 4 inches. What was I thinking!!! I’ll where my black 2-3inch ones and count myself lucky ;-) Ró
