wellies in waiting
So named a) in honor of the lovely HRH who came for a visit last week and b) because it’s name may change if a certain family take a shine to it.
a uachtarain agus a chairde
Last week the Queen of England opened her speech in Dublin Castle with these words, in Irish! A uachtarain agus a chairde (president and friends). I am not a sentimental girl but that gesture moved me beyond words. The Queen of England, speaking our language, in our land, in friendship. For those of us who have lived on this Island through the years of the troubles it’s hard to explain what that feels like.
