culture night

September 24th will see almost every gallery in Dublin open till late with bags of entertaining stuff happening both in the galleries and on the streets. It’s Culture Night and it’s all free and the atmosphere is fantastic.

Last year we got the Dart in to town and starting at Pearse Street we worked our way up through the city stopping off to see steamy latin dancing in the National Art Gallery and an outside shorts movie at the IFC along with a ton of galleries before winding our way up to Francis Street in the cultural quarter where they had samba bands and live music into the night.  Lots of walking and of course we did stop for liquid refreshments from time to time, but all in all, a very cheap night out as everything was free.  A word to the wise though, don’t be tempted to have too much of the free plonk that most galleries offer or you’ll have a kango hanger hangover in the morning!

This year my paintings will be on show on the night in The Bad Art Gallery on Francis street. They’ll will be having a big party with live music and they will have some of their artists painting in the window.  We’ll be in there too for some of the night,  hopfully we’ll see you there!

The kids are away until this evening and the painting is starting to come together. Well actually it’s me that’s settling down and coming together.  Apples are a comfort to me when I’m struggling so it’s back to the apples.

  • Congrats on getting into not one but two galleries, you must be over the moon! Well done.
Getting back into painting after a break is hard sometimes, you just gotta get back in the ‘zone’ and then things will begin to flow again. The apples are gorgeous and I love the orange triangles too.
What’s your secret getting into galleries?

    • Hi Diana, Good to hear from you. I have been doing a little surfing and you and my other artist blogger friends have been inspiring me no end. Thanks for the encouragement. The Galleries have been amazing. I have been really lucky as in the main they have come to me. Facebook has helped too I think but really I’m still waiting for the other shoe to drop!
